May 2010 Newsletter
Dear Parents,
We hope that you all had a very enjoyable Easter break. Unfortunately things didn't go quite as planned at the beginning of term for some of us but everyone is now safely back.
We have already been lucky enough to enjoy some lovely spring sunshine. In order that your child can enjoy this weather safely could you please remember to
- put suncream on your child every morning before he/she comes to school. Staff are not allowed to re apply sun cream so you are very welcome to come to the office at lunchtime and do a fresh application
- bring a hat, clearly named, into school. Sunhats are on sale at the school office for £3.
- wear a t-shirt/top that covers the shoulders. Strappy tops are not suitable at school.
- bring in a named water bottle for the children to drink during the day at their table. Water bottles are on sale at the school office for £1.20.
- make sure your child has a pair of plimsolls or trainers in school daily so that he/she can take part in outside PE and climb safely on the outside play equipment.
However, we are also aware that the weather can be very changeable at this time of year so can you please ensure that children come to school with a warm jacket that can be worn at lunchtime if necessary.
The staff have asked me to remind you of the things that we are collecting at the present time. These include Tesco vouchers, Sainsbury?s vouchers, Nestles Boxtops, used stamps and old printer cartridges. All of these things help us to order additional equipment for the children which we might not otherwise be able to afford.
There is continued concern among some parents that children are riding scooters and playing football on the school premises before and after school. There is very little room on the playgrounds at this time of the day so please have regard for the safety of other parents and small children and do not allow your children to use these things. Remember that your child and his/her behaviour is your responsibility before and after school and you should be aware of where he/she is and what he/she is doing at all times.
Unfortunately we appear to have an outbreak of headlice in some classes at the moment. Prevention is easier than cure so please check your child?s head regularly. Use a fine toothed comb daily to ensure that any eggs are extracted before they hatch and use lots of conditioner when you wash your child?s hair as this helps to prevent the eggs sticking to the hair follicle. If your child does have headlice you will need to go to the chemist for the appropriate hair treatment and follow this with another treatment a week later in order to kill any eggs or lice that may remain.
Mr. Bounce, our sponsored event, will be taking place on June 15th. This is the proposed timetable when you are invited to come and watch your child bounce and raise money for the school.

The Rainbow Club was well attended in the Easter holidays. Mrs Twaites would like to remind you that there are places still available for this half term. Please contact Mrs Twaites or the school office if you would like to apply for a place in the holiday club or a place after school.
The PTA are starting to organise the Fun Day which is held at the end of the term. If you think that you are able to help in any way, but especially manning a stall, please contact any of the ladies directly or we will pass on a message. Your help is vital if we are to make this event the success it has been in past years.
