May 2009 Newsletter
Dear Parents,
We hope that you all had a very enjoyable Easter break. At the end of term we were very pleased to see so many lovely entries for the Easter competitions. They made a wonderful display in the hall. The children did lots of interesting things over the two weeks and were very keen to share their experiences with their classes on their return.
We are very pleased to announce the safe arrival of Thomas Adam Penketh. He was born on 29th April and weighed 7lbs 9 ozs. Mother and baby are doing very well and we look forward to seeing them in school soon.
We have already been lucky enough to enjoy some lovely spring sunshine. In order that your child can enjoy this weather safely could you please remember to
• put suncream on your child every morning before he/she comes to school. Staff are not allowed to re apply sun cream so you are very welcome to come to the office at lunchtime and do a fresh application
• bring a hat, clearly named, into school. Sunhats are on sale at the school office for £3
• wear a t-shirt/top that covers the shoulders. Strappy tops are not suitable at school
• bring in a named water bottle for the children to drink during the day at their table. Water bottles are on sale at the school office for £1.
• make sure your child has a pair of plimsolls or trainers in school daily so that he/she can take part in outside PE and climb safely on the outside play equipment
The year 2 teachers were very impressed with the hard work that had been put into the Year 2 story boxes that the children made during the holiday. The standard and quality was very high and it was extremely difficult to decide on the winners. Well done everyone who took part.
The PTA will be very busy this term and Mrs Bailey and her team would appreciate any help that you can offer for any of the events planned.
This month there will be a cake stall after school on 14th May. The PTA is also sending home an envelope in which you can collect old, broken and unwanted jewellery and watches. Most of us have a collection of odd earrings, broken necklaces etc which we don’t bother to get rid of and clutter up a drawer. By sending these seemingly worthless bits and pieces into school we can recycle them and raise much needed funds. So we hope that you have a good look round over the Bank Holiday weekend and see what you can do to declutter your house and help the PTA.
Mr. Bounce, our sponsored event, will be taking place on June 18th. This is the proposed timetable when you are invited to come and watch your child bounce and raise money for the school.

There are a wide variety of activities taking place this term. Among other things we have a tennis coach and cricket coach coming in to work with the children. There will also be the opportunity for some of the children to take part in the music festival and a dance festival taking place in other schools. We will be having Arts week when there will be art, music & drama activities for everyone to take part in. In addition to the things going on in school every year group has a coach trip planned which is always exciting.
We hope the children will have a really enjoyable time taking part and that you find time to join us on one or more of these occasions.
With best wishes
Mrs. Mooney and all the staff
